2017 Youth backpack mission

Whenever the difficult decision is made to move a child from his/her home into foster care, most children move with little to no belongings.  In the event a child has some belongings they can take with them when they move, the belongings are usually small in number and thrown into a trash bag to travel with the child.  DCS likes to provide the children in this

situation with a bag full of goodies.  This gesture gives the children a few items they may call their own.  With this in mind, the FCC youth group is embarking on its first mission of the school year and assembling a large number of supply-filled backpacks for foster children of all ages that will be donated to DCS and distributed in Shelby and surrounding counties.

We are seeking donations of items that may be used to fill the donated backpacks.  Your donations of the following items is needed and will be greatly appreciated:

 Book bags & backpacks

Small baby items that could fit in a book bag

 Small blankets

 Small stuffed animals

 Hygiene products for all ages

 Current, relatable items for teens

 Pens, pencils, notebooks

 Monetary donations (payable to FCC)

If you work for/own a business that may be in a position to make a monetary donation to this cause, please contact Kristy Byrne (317-642-9560) for more details.  Donated supplies may be delivered to the FCC office.  Thank you so much for your support and assistance!
